Laura is a partner at Cox Yeats where she focuses on International Trade, Energy, and Business Law. 

Her practice includes litigious work, acting for entities in our lower and supreme courts, but is focused primarily on commercial and contractual work and the provision of general in-house legal counsel services. Laura provides professional support and advice to numerous large organisations operating within South Africa and abroad, including entities listed both in and outside of South Africa.

Her International Trade Law practice consists primarily of assisting logistics companies with the drafting, negotiation, and interpretation of industry specific agreements, such as warehousing, supply, transport/carriage, stevedoring and general trading terms and conditions.

Within the Energy Law field, she has a particular focus on renewable energy, oil and gas and has advised on numerous complex and high-value power purchase agreements (wind, solar and battery energy storage systems), petroleum storage and handling contracts, concession agreements, mining related agreements, land rights, operating and maintenance agreements, EPC Agreements and sale agreements in relation to fuel facilities. Laura also assists her clients with their engagements with stakeholders and regulatory authorities such as Transnet, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.

In 2021 Laura was nominated by Standard Bank and KZN Top Business as one of the Top 30 businesswomen in Kwa-Zulu Natal and in 2022 Laura was ranked as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ by the Legal 500. Laura has also been recognised in Best Lawyers in 2025 and 2026.
