Gareth is a Partner in the Business Restructuring, Rescue & Insolvency team at Cox Yeats. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a director at Hogan Lovells South Africa.
Gareth specialises in debt recovery, business restructuring, business rescue and insolvency. He has represented multinational corporations, local and international banks, business rescue practitioners, liquidators, creditors and listed companies, providing strategic advice on expedited debt recovery mechanisms, restructurings, liquidations and complex commercial disputes.
His expertise extends to banking and commercial litigation, both formal and informal restructuring, cross-border litigation, forensic investigations and fraud. Gareth also advises on regulatory and compliance matters, corporate debt recovery and strategic issues relating to proposed rules, regulations and legislation, including within the aviation sector.
He has significant experience in matters involving the fiduciary duties of directors and officers, having successfully pursued and defended claims relating to directors’ and officers’ liability, including cases of reckless and negligent trading, gross misconduct and fraud. Gareth has appeared before regulatory bodies and tribunals, and has served on disciplinary committees addressing the conduct of professionals.
