Christine Seger

Partner

Christine is a partner in the Maritime, International Trade Law and Insurance Law Practice of the firm, specialising primarily in Insurance and Commercial law litigation. She joined Cox Yeats as a partner in April 2023.

Christine has practised as an admitted attorney in South Africa for 25 years, and she specialises in all aspects of litigation, insurance, insolvency, construction and property-related matters, and strategic advice in relation to those matters.

Christine practised as head of another firm’s Commercial Litigation Department for 12 years and prior to that served as a director for 11 years. Christine is an admitted conveyancer, has completed a Judges’ training course and holds postgraduate courses in medical malpractice and insolvency.

Christine has demonstrated a track record of successfully litigating in various courts and arbitral proceedings, with a strong emphasis on outcomes-based litigation, including negotiated settlements. She is skilled in all aspects of commercial litigation, including insurance law, casualty and medical malpractice matters, litigation in regard to commercial contracts, and property-related matters.

Christine has represented several insurers in complex claims. She has also acted for listed companies in litigation, arbitrations, mediations and in providing advice.
