Andrew is the Managing Partner of Cox Yeats and leads the Maritime, Insurance and International Trade Law practice.
He has over 25 years’ experience in maritime and insurance law, with a particular focus on marine and transport insurance. His practice has expanded to include general insurance claims, fire losses, liability claims, and complex casualty matters.
Andrew leads a team of insurance specialists and has advised on significant insurance matters, including major marine and fire losses arising from the July 2021 unrest and the April 2022 floods in KwaZulu-Natal.
He regularly acts for major South African insurers, advising on policy interpretation, claims under insurance policies, and recovery actions against third parties. His work includes pursuing claims under subrogated rights and defending claims brought against insurers and their insureds.
Andrew has been involved in a number of high-profile maritime, marine insurance, and commercial litigation matters across South Africa, including appeals in the Supreme Court of Appeal.
