Aideen is a Partner in the Maritime, Insurance and International Trade Law practice at Cox Yeats Attorneys. She specialises in maritime, insurance, and international trade law, with particular emphasis on marine insurance, shipping litigation, logistics, and road carriage claims.
Aideen joined Cox Yeats in 2018 as a Candidate Attorney and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2020, thereafter being appointed as an Associate. She was subsequently promoted to Partner.
Her experience includes advising and acting for local and international insurers, policyholders, brokers, and commercial clients in disputes arising under marine, liability, commercial, and property insurance policies, as well as recovery actions pursued by insurers. She also advises on regulatory and compliance matters affecting insurers and brokers, including binder agreements, outsourcing arrangements, premium collection structures, and broader insurance regulatory frameworks.
In addition, Aideen advises local and international clients on commercial agreements relating to international trade, logistics, transport, warehousing, and customs compliance. Her practice includes advising on disputes involving SARS under the Customs and Excise Act, as well as maritime matters such as vessel arrests, cargo damage claims, collisions, and investigations arising from incidents at sea.
Aideen serves as the Secretary of the National Executive of the Maritime Law Association of South Africa and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Gauteng Chapter of the Association.
