Carol McDonald

Partner

Carol is a Partner at Cox Yeats, practising in Property and Commercial Law.

She joined the firm in 2011 and is an admitted attorney, notary public, and conveyancer, with extensive experience across a broad range of property-related transactions.

Carol holds an LL.B, summa cum laude, from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and was awarded the KwaZulu-Natal Law Society Prize for the highest academic results in her graduating class. After completing her articles and qualifying as a notary and conveyancer, she practised as a litigation attorney before being awarded a Clarendon Scholarship to pursue a BCL at the University of Oxford.

Her practice includes property transfers, commercial and residential bonds, notarial leases, servitudes, and all aspects of conveyancing and notarial work. She has particular experience in the registration of mining rights and related transactions, as well as structuring servitudes and security arrangements for developments, shopping centres, and filling stations.

Carol is an elected member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legal Practitioners Association and serves on the Law Society of South Africa Property Committee. She is actively involved in industry engagement and contributes to addressing key challenges within the property sector.
